3 Star, Superior Tourist Class Traditional Hotel
This hotel enjoys a central location within walking distance of all of Oslo's major tourist attractions. There are transport links - bus/ tram and taxi directly outside of the hotel. All rooms are kept in a very traditional Norwegian manner, they are of medium size and have been decorated with extensive use of wood in the furnishings and decor. Rooms are in very good condition as are the bathrooms. The recently refurbished ground floor restaurant, adjacent to the lobby, is famous in Oslo, serving traditional Norwegian food in a warm atmosphere. Breakfast however is sometimes also served in the basement in very cosy surroundings.
The building forms part of a block and is quite traditional both in it's exterior and interior. The reception desk is quite small but the lobby area is of medium size. The furniture in the lobby is traditional. The Bondeheimen represents a type of property once far more widespread in the cities of Norway. Its original purpose was to be a kind of home-from-home for visitors to the city from more rural areas, and for this reason good wholesome quality of every aspect of the hotel at an attractive price were the hotel's original aims. They still are and this hotel comes highly recommended.
